Spanish Group at Millenium

The UWC Spanish Conversation Group formed in 2008. We meet weekly for an hour at 3:45 p.m. on Monday afternoons at the Millennium Hotel. We usually have 8 to 12 attending each week. Typically we each prepare some thoughts on a weekly topic and look up a few new vocabulary words in advance of meeting. We try to avoid just reading to each other. For each of us, it has greatly increased our ability to speak more casually and readily, and our vocabulary has grown.

Twice a month we grateful to have Alejandra, a native speaker from Argentina, who helps us. To cover the costs, we each contribute $60 annually. We welcome new members who already have some basic knowledge of Spanish and who want to practice and expand their conversational capabilities. When our group is large (10 or more), we break into two groups (Mas Ayuda—More Help, and Menos Aydua—Less Help). We’ve had a lot of fun. It has been both a learning and a friendship experience for us all. “Espero que puedes asistir a nuestro grupo. Hasta la vista.”

UWC Beginning Spanish

When we have a minimum of 3 UWC members who are interested in learning to speak Spanish, we offer lessons in Spanish to beginners who have had little or no Spanish. There is a modest fee for the classes and a 3-session commitment is required. To sign up for an on-going class or join a waiting list for the next class, please contact the chair of the Spanish Conversation Group.

Please visit the Interest Group page for the current chairperson[s]. Feel free to contact the chair if you’d like more information.
